Bartender
Experience setting up and running a full service bar is required in order to successfully perform the duties of this position, which has a limited number of openings during the summer. Bartender positions are available at the ballpark’s Club Car Bar, at suite level and at private party areas. Bartenders are scheduled at different locations throughout the season. Bartenders often hold additional positions at the park, including Suite Server and report to the Suite Supervisor. Excellent customer service and people skills are musts. Applicants must be 21 or over in compliance to the Alabama State Liquor Laws.
Biscuit Bunch – “On-Field Promotional Team”
Calling all STARS!!!!! As a Biscuit Bunch Member, you will be one of the select few employees responsible for executing on-field promotions. No prior experience is required, but all applicants must love entertaining large crowds and possess an enthusiastic and outgoing personality. Biscuit Bunch members are expected to perform some basic dance routines and auditions may be required.
Candidates with a cheerleading or gymnastics background are encouraged to apply!
Box Office Representative
Assist the Box Office Manager in the daily operation of the ticket office. Reps. interact with customers on a daily basis and are expected to excel in the areas of customer service and communication. The primary purpose of the position is to sell individual game tickets while effectively communicating our policies to the general public in a customer service oriented manner. Each individual will be responsible for daily reconciliation of his/her own cash drawer and daily maintenance of the box office. Some data entry duties during down times will be required. Ability to relate well to the public in an empathetic manner and learn basic computer functions a must.
Clubhouse Assistant
Clubhouse Assistant has extensive responsibilities including pre-game set up of equipment and post-game break down which also includes cleaning the dugouts and inventorying and storing bats, balls, cups and water jugs. They are responsible for supplying and retrieving balls, bats and equipment during games and batting practice as well as providing ice, drinks, towels, etc. to managers, coaches, trainees, players and umpires as needed. Applicants must be 18 years of age.
Emcee
The on-field Emcee is responsible for executing all in-game promotions during each inning break. The Emcee must be energetic, outgoing and enthusiastic, possess a great speaking voice, love performing in front of large crowds and be comfortable interacting with fans of all ages. In addition, the Emcee is responsible for memorizing scripts with the capacity to improvise on a nightly basis. Most importantly, the Emcee must love to have fun and be able to excite thousands of fans. Previous live audience experience is desired.
Food Service
- Captain- The Captain position will oversee the overall quality of all foodservice products, customer service practices, and employee presentation and training. This will include all areas in concessions and catering including concession stands, portables, picnic areas, and luxury suites. This position will also manage a small group of bartenders and insuring all bars are set-up, staffed correctly, and presented according to PSC standards. There will be a minimum of one captain working every event and could have up to three on certain nights. The highest priority for this position is to find problems in the operation and communicate them to the highest level of management and assist in fixing the problems. This position will work a varied schedule including weekends and nights.
The Foodservice Captain will report directly to the Director of Foodservice.
- Concession Stand / Portable Staff- With several positions available in various areas of the ballpark, the Concession Stand and Portable Staff serve as cashiers, runners, cooks and support staff to make sure the beer is chilly and the hot dogs are warm (while serving lots of other delicious ballpark food) in order to satisfy our hungry customers!
This is an excellent way to gain experience in the food service industry.
- Food Service Maintenance Crew- With several positions available in various areas of the ballpark, the Concession Stand and Portable Staff serve as cashiers, runners, cooks and support staff to make sure the beer is chilly and the hot dogs are warm (while serving lots of other delicious ballpark food) in order to satisfy our hungry customers!
This is an excellent way to gain experience in the food service industry.
- Hawker- A little spunk, a loud mouth and some quick hands are needed to be a successful ballpark hawker! The Hawker is responsible for selling food and beverages up and down the aisles throughout the ballpark. Ideal applicants will be great communicator, possessing excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact well with other people. The Hawker particularly must have the abilities to make change and walk up and down stairs frequently while carrying product.
- Kitchen Crew & Cooks- Kitchen Crew members will handle many kitchen appliances and tools while maintaining a pace to handle suite level catering and concourse food service needs. Individuals with some cooking experience in a restaurant-type environment are normally the most successful applicants. Kitchen Crew responsibilities include food preparation, cooking and cleaning. Part-time positions are available with flexible day and evening hours.
- Portable Cash Manager- The Port Cash Manager is responsible for all cash operations at portables at Riverwalk Stadium. He/she will receive opening banks from the cash room and distribute them to each stand. The Port Cash Manager makes two cash pick-ups per game, making change for cashiers when necessary, and counts/verifies the ending cash balances with the cashiers at the end of the night.
The Port Cash Manager is expected to:
- Watch over the portables for efficient and positively outrageous service provided to customers each and every night;
- Encourage, promote and model a great attitude for the workers;
- Make sure proper cash-handling procedures are being followed by cashiers;
- Count and verify the beginning and ending banks with cashiers;
- Monitor change requests as needed and record on appropriate sheet;
- Count and verify cash with cash managers at the end of the night and during pick-ups from cashiers.
- Portable Inventory Manager- The Port Inventory Manager is responsible for the efficiency and inventory controls at portables at Riverwalk Stadium. He/she will direct game-day workers at teach of the portables and is responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels in each of the portables and for managing 15-20 game-day workers. The Port Inventory Manager reports to the Concessions Supervisor.
The Port Inventory Manager is expected to:
- Watch over the portables for efficient and positively outrageous service provided to customers each and every night;
- Encourage, promote and model a great attitude for the workers;
- Count and verify inventory levels in ports at the start and conclusion of each game, requesting items from the warehouse when needed;
- Record and monitor spoilage numbers throughout the night and account for them accordingly;
- Monitor and meet all health codes and liquor-control laws and communicate them to employees.
- Stand Cash Manager- The Stand Cash Manager is responsible for all cash operations in concession stands at Riverwalk Stadium. He/she will receive opening banks from the cash room and distribute them to each stand. - Suite Servers- Suite Servers service the suite level of the ballpark, offering a fine dining experience to the Biscuits important suite clients. Duties performed include serving food and beverages, stocking suites with supplies and attending to customers to make sure their experience is “positively outrageous”. Individuals with great people skills that have a commitment to customer service are the best qualified candidates. Previous serving experience is preferred but not necessary! Applicants must be over 21 years of age as alcohol is often served in suites.
- Warehouse Workers- Warehouse Workers are an important part of the food service department. Responsibilities include receiving products from trucks, stocking concession stands and portables as well as event set up and tear down. The position has demanding physical requirements in order to efficiently perform its duties. Successful candidates must be able to lift 25-100 pounds.
Group Event Concierge
The Group Event Photographer is a customer service and graphics oriented position responsible for the execution of all aspects of the Biscuits’ group event photo benefit (Monty’s Moments).
Job duties include organizing and taking group photos at each game, digitally cropping and finishing these photos and posting them on the website for viewing.
The ideal candidate for this position is outgoing and personable, with an affinity for customer service and a skill set bent towards graphics. Knowledge of web design and Photoshop is preferred, but not essential.
Grounds Crew Member
Game day Grounds crew is a game-day-only position and is responsible in assisting the Head Groundskeeper with the pregame preparation of the playing field. He/she will participate in all activities relating to preparation of the professional level baseball field. This includes, but is not limited to: chalking, watering, infield and pitcher’s mound maintenance and tarp pulls. A commitment to the complete 70 game home season as well as possible playoff games is required.
Guest Services
- Concierge – Goodwill ambassadors to usher, help with barrier free seating, provide special customer service and information. A willingness to interact with the fans is a must.
- Ticket Takers – The frontlines of service that greet fans and take tickets at the entrances of the stadium. Check bags, blankets, and containers for food and beverage. A willingness to interact with fans is a must.
- Venue Attendant – The Venue Attendant helps direct and control traffic to the Club Car Bar, Whistle Stop Grille, Boxcar Buffet, Locomotive Loft and suites. He/she should expect to answer questions and assist with special situations with the team’s valued suite customers and groups in any venue, as well as directing the media to the press box and individuals to barrier-free seating. He/she also serves as a key point of contact for keeping fans out of restricted areas, including both suite and clubhouse levels.
Interactive Games Operator
Set up and tear down of inflatable games, crowd control and accuracy with cash receipts are the responsibilities of the game operators. While the games operators will not handle cash, he/she will be responsible for collecting tokens from each person participating on an inflatable game. Operators will also be responsible to make the inflatables safe by ensuring the rides are utilized in the proper way.
Games include a Moonwalk, Speed Pitch, Giant Slide and an Obstacle course.
- Moonwalk – an inflatable structure those children ages two to twelve can jump in similar to a trampoline. Each child receives five minutes of jumping for a token and must wear socks, but not shoes in the Moonwalk. Five children at a time are allowed to participate. Careful monitoring of the ages of the children, the rowdiness and the amount of time spent jumping are a must.
- Speed Pitch – an inflatable based game in which each contestant receives three baseballs to throw for a token. As he/she throws, the speed is registered on an authentic radar gun.
- Obstacle Course – an inflatable structure through which children can “race” each other. Includes climbing and crawling and leaping through an inflatable course that provides various obstacles throughout the way. Children typically bring a friend to race or the operator “marries” two children of the same age group to make a “race” atmosphere.
- Super Slide – an inflatable game that children of certain ages can climb with the assistance of a rope and slide down the other side. The giant slide towers over Big Mo’s dugout and is fun for fans of nearly all ages. Careful monitoring of the kids as they progress up and down the slide is necessary as the top of the slide could prove dangerous if an unsupervised child were to accidentally fall.
Mascot Performer
Do you think you can fill his shoes? Big Mo is a symbol of community and team spirit and is a large part of the entertainment package at Riverwalk Stadium. Big Mo expresses and personifies the emotions of his audience. An affinity for entertaining children and the desire to perform are necessary for the perfect candidate.
Prior mascot experience or theater experience is desirable, but not a necessity. Due to the physically demanding nature of being Big Mo throughout the game as well as some size requirements to wear the costume, an audition will be required for all qualified applicants. Big Mo is required to be at all seventy home games and also makes appearances periodically throughout the summer.
Press Box – Control Room
- Camera Operator- The Camera Operator is responsible for capturing live game footage of the Biscuits on one of the two Biscuits DVC video cameras. This person is responsible for setting up the camera, tripod and cables in one of the camera bays before each game, shooting game action and specified pre-game and in-game promotions. Operators are also responsible for the proper shutdown and storage of all camera equipment. Qualified candidates will possess experience filming sporting events at any level.
- Message Board Operator- The Message Board Operator works with a computer program sending messages and graphics to both the message board (under the main scoreboard) and the two LED displays in the outfield. The Message Board Operator also works with the Official Scorer to input baseball statistics into the display program. This position is very high-paced and requires quick thinking and concentration.
- Replay Operator- The Replay Operator is responsible for continuously capturing digital replays of live game action, pre-game events & in-game promotions using the Biscuits designated replay computer. He/she is also responsible for putting together the Biscuits highlight reel for each game. Knowledge of graphics and video editing programs are an asset but are not necessary.
- Scoreboard Operator- The Scoreboard Operator is responsible for keeping track of the baseball elements of the game including balls, strikes, runs, etc… He/she will enter information into the line score using a BARCO controller. Qualified candidates will posses an understanding of the sport of baseball and good concentration skills. While the scoreboard operator is responsible for keeping track of the game, he/she is not responsible for making calls as the Official Scorer (this is a separate position).
- Switcher- The Switcher Operator is responsible for the operation of the Panasonic 4-channel switcher controller before and during Biscuits’ games. The Switcher selects and sends the appropriate camera shots, replays and graphics to the board as received from other control room operators. He/she will be responsible for cooperating with the rules of Minor League Baseball as it pertains to live camera and replay footage. The Switcher is also responsible for coordinating live feed with the Camera Operators. Knowledge or experience in live production is a plus.
- Videoboard Operator- The Videoboard Operator works with the Click Effects Crossfire program, selecting the graphics and movie clips that are displayed on the Videoboard. This position is also responsible for creating simple graphics in Photoshop for the Starting Lineup, Out-of-Town Scoreboard, etc. The position of Videoboard Operator is high-paced and requires quick thinking and a creative mind. Knowledge of graphics and video editing programs is a plus, but not necessary.
Portable Cleaning Crew Member
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans by ensuring the stadium is in outstanding condition prior to each Biscuits home game! The portable cleaner will be responsible for the daily cleanliness and presentation of Riverwalk Stadium’s food portables and condiment carts. Qualified candidates must be hard working, have the ability to stay on task and take pride in his/her work.
Porter & Maid
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans! Porters & Maids are responsible for in-game clean up including minor spills on the concourse and in the seating bowl, changing trash can liners, refilling restroom paper and soap dispensers and keeping an eye out for these needs. Porters and Maids should be courteous with an eye for detail and not afraid to “roll up their sleeves”.
Retail Sales Associate
The retail operation encompasses many duties including cashiering, running of games, inventory control, maintenance, greeting at the Biscuit Basket entrance, merchandising, and stocking.
The sales associate will assist customers and maintain the floor by restocking and cleaning. He/she will also serve as a deterrent for theft. A good working knowledge of the inventory and a commitment to customer service with a genuine interest in helping people are key.
The retail sales associate with previous cashier experience or promotion within the department will also serve as a game-time cashier. As a cashier he/she will be responsible for overages and shortages.
Stadium Cleaning Crew Member
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans by ensuring the stadium is in outstanding condition prior to each Biscuits home game! Crew members are responsible for pre-event clean up including power-washing of the concourse and in the seating bowl, changing trash can liners, refilling restroom paper and soap dispensers, trash removal, and washing of all the special venues. Crew Members will take all direction from Stadium and Janitorial Supervisor.
Suite Cleaners
Suite cleaners must have at least six months of experience in hotel/industrial cleaning. Suite cleaning responsibilities include vacuuming and wiping down the suites, dusting the furniture and cleaning the windows of the suite doors. Attention to detail a must!
Token Booth Operator
The Token Booth Operator is responsible for selling ride tokens, socks and other Biscuits merchandise. He/she is responsible for the safeguarding of the merchandise, proper collection and counting of monies and tokens.
Trash Runner Cleaning Crew Member
A key position in offering positively outrageous service to our fans by ensuring the stadium is in outstanding condition prior to each Biscuits home game! The trash runner will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of all food service areas. Duties include but aren’t limited to emptying trash, sweeping and mopping.
Hours: The season consists of 70 home games that are played between April and September. Depending on the department, every position offers a flexible schedule that includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours and requires a commitment to a variable amount of the 70-team home games.
Pay: Pay rates depend on the specific position and levels of experience.
